Myth intertwines with nature's beauty on a beach with wonderful turquoise waters near Parga.
It’s no secret that in Epirus you’ll find some of the most beautiful beaches of Greece. An endless coastline, with sandy shores and enchanting coves with exotic waters that will make you feel like you’re on an island, awaits you in this corner of Greece. One of the beaches that stands out is Odysseus’ Bay or Kerentza Beach (its old name) located in the Preveza regional unit, a little south of Parga and close to the village of Valanidorachi.
Here, myth blends with nature’s beauty. It’s said that Odysseus chose this beach to avoid the gods’ wrath, troubled by a foreboding prophecy from the seer Tiresias.
It’s a long sandy beach with turquoise, shallow waters, surrounded by a lush green landscape. At its southeastern end there’s a small river, while at the northwestern there’s a small harbor for small boats. The beach isn’t organized, but there are two snack bars for the essentials. Odysseus’ Bay has been chosen for years by visitors with camper vans, as the area is ideal for alternative tourism. It’s worth noting that it’s considerably calmer than the neighboring beaches.
The beach is east of Ammoudia and 25 km. from Parga and 45 km. from the center of Preveza. You can get there by road from the village of Valanidorachi or by small boat. If you’re in the area, it’s also worth visiting the neighboring beaches of Alonaki and Skala, as well as the famous Necromanteion that’s 7 km away.
