So what if summer is slow to arrive? Tripadvisor makes us dream of it through its annual list of the best beaches in the world according to the preferences of travelers on the platform (Travellers Choice Best of the Best awards). This list is based on the quality and number of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches around the world, collected over the past year.
Naturally, when we talk about a list of top beaches, Greece could not be missing. This year, an exotic beach in Crete claimed the top spot.
Tripadvisor: The Greek beaches that made the worlds best list
Users of the popular travel platform voted Elafonisi in Crete the best beach in the world at the Travellers Choice 2025 awards. At the remote southwestern tip of Crete, Elafonisi is one of the most popular destinations in the prefecture of Chania. It is a narrow peninsula that "breaks" at its base, creating the sense of a separate island about 150 m. from the opposite shore. The area is part of the Natura 2000 network and the setting feels tropical, with shallow turquoise waters and white sand that takes on pinkish hues from thousands of crushed shells.
Another Greek beach also features in the global top 10 of Tripadvisor. It is the famed Myrtos of Kefalonia. Myrtos Beach lies 30 km from Argostoli, near the village of Divarata. The sheer, towering cliffs that surround the beach, the snow-white pebbles and the unique blue of the sea due to the areas currents make a scene like a painting. You simply must stay here until sunset.

In the global ranking, the top five are completed by Banana Beach in Thailand, Eagle Beach in Aruba, Siesta Beach in Florida and Praia da Falésia in Portugal.
