Eastern Pelion: Beaches - a dream on the Aegean
Chorefto
Chorefto is a vast sandy beach in eastern Pelion. The shore is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds - but with plenty of space to spread out your towel -, while in the settlement you'll find many tavernas and cafés. Access is easy by car from Zagora, which is 7.5 km from Chorefto. From here, you can walk to another beautiful beach right next door, Parisaina, while if you have a boat it's worth seeing the huge sea caves in the area of Palia Mitzela.
Agioi Saranta
At a distance of 3 km from Chorefto, Agioi Saranta is a huge and enchanting sandy beach that took its name from the area's chapel of the same name. The tall rock «Kalogeros» is renowned, from the top of which the daring dive into the sea. Here too you'll find little tavernas and beach bars to relax. Access to the beach is via Makrirrachi as well as from Chorefto.
Plaka
Five minutes from the cosmopolitan beach of Agios Ioannis, you'll come across Plaka, a beautiful beach with crystalline turquoise waters, fine pebbles, and lush vegetation that reaches the sand, offering ample shade. You can get here on foot via a path.
Papa Nero
A short distance from Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero beach is one of Pelion's most beloved. Golden sands, deep-blue Aegean waters, watersports, little tavernas, and lush greenery all around provide the perfect setting for your summer holidays.
Damouchari
Damouchari, which became known to the global public from the film Mamma Mia, is a small and picturesque seaside settlement on the eastern Pelion side. In the settlement's northern cove lies the idyllic little harbor, where you can enjoy your meal at the tavernas there. In its southern part, you'll enjoy your swim on a beach with crystal-clear waters and large white pebbles.
Mylopotamos
A short distance from Tsagarada, exotic and beautiful Mylopotamos is one of Pelion's most famous and most photographed beaches. The scenery is imposing: blue-green waters, golden sand, white pebbles, and a rock with an opening that divides the beach in two. Access is easy by going down a few steps.
Fakistra
The tiny bay of Fakistra is one of the most postcard-perfect corners of eastern Pelion. It has been awarded by many international travel sites and has made it onto quite a few lists of the best beaches in Greece and beyond. The beach has sand with fine pebbles and is surrounded by steep, high rocks. To reach it, follow the sign from Tsagarada and then walk a downhill path for 15-20 minutes. The beach isn't organized and you'll need to bring your own supplies.
Potistika
In the southeastern part of Pelion, Potistika beach, with its 1 km stretch of golden sand and large rocks in the sea, fills every summer with visitors who choose it for their swims. To get there, follow the road from Volos towards Argalasti and then towards Xynovrysi. In the village you'll find a sign for the beach.
