We enjoyed an exceptional stay at Yayaki Spetses, a peaceful haven renowned for its hospitality and warm people.
«Welcome to Yayaki, our home in Spetses. Here you will find more than a sanctuary, here you will live a complete experience». With these words, Hannah and Karl Hindi welcome guests to a hotel that is not merely an accommodation, but a journey of the senses, inspiration, and warm hospitality. After all, its name says so too, as it comes from the word «grandmother», capturing the sense of coziness and intimacy it offers.
In a quiet little alley in Spetses, within a short distance of Dapia and Agios Mamas beach, we found this charming boutique hotel housed in a traditional Spetses mansion with bougainvillea, aspiring to become a home away from our home.
A love story
Yayaki was created with care, love, and a personal vision by a couple who chose to leave behind the fast pace of metropolises such as London and Paris and reconnect with the magic of the Greek Mediterranean. For Karl and Hannah, Greece and Spetses always held a special place in their hearts. They fell in love with the island, married in Spetses, and aspired to build their own home and share it with the world.
In 2020 they moved to Spetses with their daughter and their cat and managed to make their dream come true, creating a sanctuary crafted with care and love. Yayaki opened its doors in May 2021 after a renovation carried out by the French studio Maison Hand in collaboration with the Athenian construction company Novicon, with respect for the architectural heritage of the island.
Rooms with character and imagination
Yayaki offers a total of 15 rooms and suites, each with its own personality and décor, inspired by tradition and modern aesthetics. We wandered around and noticed that each room is defined by a good-luck charm, symbolizing fortune, love, and care. The design stands out in each of them, as the earthy tones and fabrics exude calm and relaxation at first glance.
Yayaki Spetses strikes a balance between two worlds, combining a family guesthouse with the comforts of a luxury hotel. The Yayaki and Panorama suites stand out for their terraces with views of the sea or the pool, their generous spaces, and the amenities that appeal to those seeking something special for their stay. The Myrtoan suite is the largest room in the hotel and can accommodate up to four people as it is divided into two rooms.
Ultimate wellbeing and activities
The hotel is not just a beautiful place for holidays, but a place of relaxation and renewal, with soul and character. The outdoor pool with elegant sun loungers is ideal for leisurely moments in the sun, and the garden of the mansion for endless strolls. The philosophy of Yayaki focuses on sustainability and wellbeing, not only through nutrition, but also through its amenities, such as the yoga studio and the gym area.
Guests can take part in activities such as hiking, cycling, fishing, or explore the island with electric bicycles. In addition, if you wish, you can enjoy personalized experiences, from private dinners to organizing small retreats and family holidays.
Wonderful flavors
In the morning we woke eager to try the generous breakfast. With vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, the kitchen at Yayaki emphasizes fresh, seasonal ingredients. In the sun-drenched courtyard of the hotel we enjoyed tempting pancakes, homemade cakes, omelets, pies, as well as yogurt with fruit and jams, and we felt once again as if we were at our summer house.
