Enjoy warm hospitality in one of the most beautiful villages of Mount Pelion.
If you dream of slipping away from city life for a while and finding yourself in a gorgeous landscape that blends snow-white, snow-capped peaks in winter with lush, cool greenery and dense tree canopies in summer, then its worth adding a trip to Agios Lavrentios, Pelion, to your plans.
It is one of the most beautiful and best-preserved villages on the Mountain of the Centaurs. Built amphitheatrically among plane trees, chestnuts and beeches, with views over the Pagasetic Gulf, this little village is a living monument to Pelion artistry, with restored mansions, cobbled lanes, flagstone squares and fountains.
There, the Archontiko Mellio awaits to host you in a warm, family atmosphere. The house of the unforgettable actor Lavrentis Dianellos has been restored by the Zopa family to its original architectural form with great care, passion and respect for local tradition, and transformed into a wonderful guesthouse. Wood and stone prevail, blending harmoniously with the surrounding landscape.
Mr Kostas and Mrs Mellio will welcome you like friends and treat you to a traditional sweet on arrival. The guesthouses rooms offer homely warmth and are designed to provide every comfort to guests.
The mansion offers two double rooms (one has a fireplace and the other a private balcony) and three triple rooms (two have fireplaces and one has its own balcony, while all have views towards the Pagasetic Gulf and Mount Pelion). All rooms have a double bed with an orthopedic mattress, while the triple rooms also have a sofa with an orthopedic mattress.
The renowned traditional breakfast, crafted by Mrs Mellio herself, is served in the lovely dining room. The guesthouse also has a lounge where you can enjoy coffee, tsipouro, cold and hot meze, as well as a courtyard with wonderful views.
Agios Lavrentios is built on the western side of the mountain, at an altitude of 600 meters, below Hania and the ski center, with views of the Pagasetic Gulf. The village took its name from the historic monastery of the same name, one of the areas most important sights.
Near Agios Lavrentios you will find several villages also worth a visit (Drakeia, Agios Georgios Nileias, Agios Vlasios, Kato and Ano Lechonia, etc.), while the entire area is ideal for outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking.
