The Aegean paradise island the Guardian raves about

The Guardian discovered the ultimate paradise on a jewel of an island in the North Aegean.

An interesting feature on Ikaria was recently published by the British newspaper Guardian, presenting the beauties of the island. As the writer who traveled to Greece to experience the Greek summer writes, on the island of Icarus she discovered picturesque landscapes, delicious local products and a deep sense of serenity.

In the Guardian article there is mention of notable sights and locations on the island, such as the Agia Kyriaki thermal springs, the Drakanos Tower, Iero Beach and the Halaris Gorge.

For Na beach the writer writes: «We quickly fall in love with Na. My mother swims in the lagoon with the fresh water and the frogs. I swim in the sea, which is quite cold and makes me go numb. When the sun sets into the sea, we end up on the quiet terrace at Artemis for grilled eggplant with kathoura cheese and red peppers and kid goat roasted in olive oil and wine».

As the article mentions, Ikaria is known for its thermal springs and its wine, but also for the longevity of its inhabitants. The way of life and philosophy of the locals are particularly emphasized. As the writer notes, she keeps a few words that an 87-year-old from Ikaria shared with her: «Good food, positive thoughts and exercise outdoors. Every morning, you look at the magic of nature and feel gratitude. We have only one life, we must make the most of it».
