Patras and Aigio are the most well-known cities of the prefecture. Patras boasts impressive neoclassical buildings and stately old country villas with colorful facades or walk along the fortress walls. Then climb up to the Castle to admire the sections that have been preserved (the main gate, the walls, the octagonal towers and a small theater) and relax enjoying a romantic sunset from its ramparts. Aigio is of tourist interest for its old parttoward the beach, while the best spots for swimming are thebeaches Aliki, Akoli, Avythos, Digeliotika, Temeni, Valimitika, Longos and Lambiri.
