It's not just a hidden beach-cave, but a truly spectacular landscape in Corinthia, just 1.5 hours from Athens.
On the sheer cliffs of the Gulf of Corinth, opposite the Alkyonides Islands, hidden away is one of Corinthia's most striking, untouched, and lesser-known landscapes. "Seal Cave Beach", as locals know it, is a window onto the blue of the Gulf of Corinth.
This isn't just a hidden beach-cave, but a truly spectacular setting, only 1.5 hours from Athens and 35 minutes from Loutraki. The cave is essentially a natural arch in the rocks, where turquoise waters meet a rugged landscape.
The landscape evokes a «blue window» as the opening in the rock frames the sea like a natural frame. The beach formed beneath the rock is small, secluded, and striking, with pebbles and crystal-clear waters. The waters have an intense blue-green color, creating a paradise-like scene.
The name Seal Cave comes from the fact that seals occasionally find refuge here to breed. The beach is part of a coastal arc of great natural value, in an area that belongs to the Natura 2000 network. For this reason, the area calls for respect and care, so the ecosystem's fragile balance can be preserved.
Access to the beach is easier by sea, while a car can reach a certain point via a dirt road. It's even easier with a 4x4. Then you have to walk for about a quarter of an hour along a small path through a pine-forested landscape.
The descent requires caution, as the ground is steep and slippery in places. There are natural steps and a rope. Athletic shoes or hiking shoes are essential, and it's a good idea to bring water and food, as there's no canteen in the area.
