The most famous travel magazine in the world, Conde Nast Traveller, as part of the annual Readers Choice Awards, asked its travelers and readers in which country in Europe they felt most welcome and where they found the most hospitable locals. A surprising country outside the Mediterranean topped the list this year.
Estonia: The friendliest country in Europe
According to the Readers Choice Awards 2025, Estonia is the most visitor-friendly country in Europe, scoring 98,46 out of 100. As Conde Nast Traveller notes, this Baltic country is often overshadowed by other European tourism powerhouses. However, if you step off the beaten path and decide to visit, you will discover a world of fairy-tale old towns, enchanting wildlife and more than 2.000 islands.
Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, brims with charm thanks to its fairy-tale Old Town and its ideal location on the Baltic. The city boasts one of the best-preserved historic centers in Europe, with many medieval churches and other buildings under UNESCO protection.
