Two Greek beaches - not among the most famous in our country - make the list of Europes best, according to the Guardians readers.
Through the eyes of its readers, the British newspaper Guardian presents ten of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, from Sweden to Croatia and Greece. The list includes hidden coves and enchanting sandy shores for relaxation away from the crowds. In first place on the list is a beach of wild beauty in mainland Greece, while in third place we find a heavenly beach in the Cyclades.
Fakistra, Pelion
The tiny cove of Fakistra, one of the most beautiful corners of eastern Pelion, has been awarded by many international travel sites and has appeared on numerous lists of the best beaches in Greece and beyond. The beach has sand with fine pebbles and is surrounded by steep, high cliffs. To reach it you will follow the sign from Tsagarada and then walk on a downhill path for 15 minutes. The beach has no facilities and you will need to bring your own supplies.
Kastraki, Naxos
The beach Kastraki, next to the peninsula of Mikri Vigla, is one of the most beautiful on Naxos. «Naxos has stunning beaches everywhere, but Kastraki is second to none. It has the softest white sand, which stretches beneath the spectacular, crystalline waters that at times appear the palest blue and at other times turquoise», writes the Guardian.
