Google: The destinations most searched in 2024 - Two Greek islands in the top 10

Greece is among the top travel destinations in searches in 2024, according to Google. See which Greek islands stood out.

Just before 2024 drew to a close, Google announced the annual «Year in Search» lists that capture what people searched for online this year. Conde Nast Traveller had the chance for an exclusive look at the «travel» section and published a list of the top 10 countries, as well as the 10 cities and islands, that recorded the biggest increases in Google searches for 2024.

Google: Greece second most searched destination in 2024

Greece ranks second on the list of countries travelers searched for most this year, according to «Year in Search» data. As Conde Nast Traveller notes, from the whitewashed island of Mykonos, lush Kefalonia and Santorini with its unique sunset to Athens with its vibrant nightlife, Greece is a destination that captivates travelers.

Symi and Ikaria in the top 10 of travel searches

Symi ranks fourth on the list of the 10 cities and islands with the most searches this year. «Greece always offers more to discover, and Symi is one of the most beloved sunny European islands. In 10th place on the list is Ikaria. As Conde Nast Traveller notes, in 2024 interest grew in the «Blue Zones» (Blue Zones), the regions of the world where people live much longer than the average. Ikaria is among them. «It is the ideal place for travelers seeking adventure, offering the chance to enjoy many exciting hikes and wonderful healthy food», the travel magazine notes.
