Panagia
About 8 km. from Limenas lies one of Thassoss mountain gems, the village of Panagia, which was once the islands capital. Here you will encounter a scene of grand plane trees, abundant running water and picturesque houses. The houses are distinguished by their slate roofs, small wooden balconies, covered verandas and wood cladding. A highlight is the Church of Panagia, closely linked to village life. The church celebrates on August 15 and with it the whole village.
Kazaviti
Following the uphill road that begins in Prinos, you will reach Kazaviti, the islands oldest village. In essence it consists of two villages, Mikro and Megalo Kazaviti, which are 500 m. apart. These villages took their name from the Latin words casa (house) and vitus (wine), and are also known as Mikros and Megalos Prinos. Stone mansions with wooden balconies, tiered up the hillside, emerge from the lush vegetation. Under the plane trees of the square there are little cafes and tavernas serving local delicacies.
Theologos
At an elevation of 220 m. in the center of the island, 50 km. from Limenas and 10 km. from Potos,liesTheologos,a picturesque mountain village that deserves a spot on your list. The village is built amphitheatrically and stands out for its traditional houses. Their hallmark is hand-hewn stone on the roof. Abundant clear waters and dense greenery complete the settlements lovely picture. In Theologos it is worth visiting the folklore museum housed in the mansion of Chatzigeorgis, seeing the old churches and tasting kid goat in the tavernas. Nature lovers can also enjoy a swim at Kefalogourna waterfall just outside the village.
