One of the most famous and distinctive bridges of Zagori, the Plakida or Kalogeriko Bridge lies west of the village of Kipoi. This bridge was originally wooden, but was converted to stone in 1814 with funding from a monk from the monastery of Vitsa- hence its second name. What impresses those who see it up close is the way its three semicircular arches, standing in harmonious alignment, create a sense of light movement, giving the impression of a moving caterpillar.
Kokkori or Noutsos Bridge
One of the most famed and impressive bridges of Epirus is that of Kokkori or Noutsos, located between the villages of Koukouli, Dilofo and Kipoi and measuring about 24 meters in length and 13 meters in height. It was built in 1750 and took its second name, Noutsos, from its benefactor, as Noutsos Kontodimos from the village of Vradeto was the one who funded its construction. However, it is also called Kokkori Bridge (or Kokkoros), since Kokkoros from the village of Koukouli, who had a mill there, provided money in 1910 for its repair. Beside the bridge rises an imposing sheer rock, while beneath it flows the Voidomatis with its crystal clear, pristine waters.
Lazaridis or Kontodimos Bridge
The single arched Kontodimos or Lazaridis Bridge is located just before the western entrance to the village of Kipoi above the Vikaki stream and is surrounded by lush vegetation. It was built in 1753 by Tolis Kontodimos, from whom it took its name. The second name, «Lazaridis», is owed to the owner of the neighboring watermill. The span of the arch is 15 meters, while the height reaches 7,8 meters. From this bridge you can reach Koukouli by following a beautiful trail.
Kleidonia or Voidomatis Bridge
This single arched bridge with the elongated arch was built in 1853 and remains in good condition to this day. It is located near the village of Kleidonia, where the Vikos Gorge ends, and spans the Voidomatis River. In the beautiful area around the bridge, amidst wild nature, you can enjoy a range of activities such as rafting, kayaking and hiking.
