Among Poros's best-known and most beautiful beaches, Love Bay is a picturesque little cove literally immersed in greenery. Here you can enjoy the turquoise waters, swimming beneath the pines.
If you're looking for destinations for a quick getaway from Athens, to take romantic strolls and dips in turquoise beaches and coves with pines down to the sea, then Poros is one of the best choices. The small island of the Argosaronic Gulf is ideal for a nearby weekend escape and won't disappoint whether you go with friends or with family.
Poros has many beautiful corners and beaches you can visit, but Love Bay should definitely be on your list - especially if you're feeling romantic. It's a small cove with emerald waters, blanketed in pines.
The verdant Love Bay on Poros
Love Bay is located west of the port of Poros, just after Megalo Neorio, heading toward Russian Naval Station beach. A short descent from the main road will lead you to this beautiful bay. Although relatively small, it's one of the island's most popular beaches thanks to its natural setting. The calm turquoise waters pair perfectly with the lush pines that 'dive' into the sea. The small and large boats mooring in the bay, as well as the stone chapel of Agia Sofia, perched on the rock, complete the romantic scene.
As for the bay's name, it's said to have come from the lovestruck couples who found refuge there in earlier years, away from the prying eyes of the island's residents. The beach is organized with umbrellas, sunbeds and a beach bar. If you want to avoid the crowds, we suggest visiting early in the morning or late in the afternoon. You can go by road with your own vehicle, by boat from the port of Poros, or on foot if you like hiking, with the route from Poros town taking about 45 minutes.
