A jewel of a village, among the highest in Epirus, a breath away from the famous Metsovo.
Just 20 km from the famous Metsovo and 65 km from Ioannina, at the eastern edge of the regional unit of Ioannina, lies a beautiful village, among the highest in Epirus, that has not developed tourism. Here people live solely from their craft. We’re talking about Milia (or Amerou, in the local Vlach dialect).
Built at an elevation of 1,160 meters on the slopes of the northern Pindus, Milia belongs to the Municipality of Metsovo and is counted among the Vlach villages of Pindus. It is a particularly lively village, full of tradition, with stone-built houses and picturesque cobbled lanes, which you can discover on a day trip from Metsovo and the surrounding area.
Milia Metsovou: Tradition and authenticity
Milia has been declared a traditional settlement. The old stone-built houses with the ontas, the sarai and the chotziare steal the show, while blending so harmoniously with the landscape. When it snows, the picturesque village, dressed in white and encircled by the mountains of Pindus, looks like a postcard.
