Paros is renowned for its culinary scene, with seafood taking center stage. In Parikia and Naoussa we sampled the islands flavors and present the ones we singled out.
If there is one island that blends authentic Cycladic beauty with gastronomy to perfection, it is Paros. Against a backdrop of whitewashed alleys, bougainvillea, houses with blue windows and the sea breeze on every stroll, dining on the island is an unforgettable experience. On our trip to Paros we couldn’t help but try the delicious dishes served at seaside tavernas and authentic meze spots. We picked out seven places to eat with options in seafood as well as meat dishes.
Tsachpinis Ouzeri of the Sailors
Right in the heart of Naoussa’s little port lies the fish tavernaTsachpinis Ouzeri of the Sailors. The place started as an ouzeri 42 years ago and today has passed to the second generation of the family, the Tsachpinis brothers with extensive experience in hospitality. In the afternoons all the blue tables of the fish taverna fill at the most picturesque spot in Paros. In the display you’ll find the daily catch from the caiques. We tried seafood meze, an assortment of seafood pastas, seasonal salads and fresh grilled fish. Naoussa harbor, Paros
Glafkos Taverna
At one of Naoussa’s breeziest corners, on Agios Dimitrios Beach hidden just behind the little port, the taverna Glafkos is the best spot for dining right by the sand. We sat as the sun painted the horizon orange and a cool Cycladic breeze swept over us. The menu features fresh salads, standout starters and seafood, like the famed local gouna, grilled shrimp with mustard sauce, char-grilled octopus and seafood pastas. Agios Dimitrios Beach, Naoussa
Sigi Ikthios
At the most cosmopolitan spot of Naoussa, its little harbor, Sigi Ikthios makes its presence felt with tables laid out by the sea and caiques standing harmoniously side by side. A creation of Giannis Zoumis, with more than 25 years of experience in hospitality, it offers authentic island flavors. Among its dishes, besides the catch of the day, are shrimp pasta with zucchini, shellfish meze and shrimp with ouzo and saffron. In the evening you can also enjoy their unique cocktails at the bar. Axinos
At Axinos we soaked up the Naoussa promenade, especially lively in the afternoons. The island vibe with views of little boats is complemented by the restaurant’s elegant decor in earthy tones, and it’s open all day. The menu features refined dishes inspired by local recipes, fresh fish and seafood, with recipes from Mediterranean culture. There are also Asian options for sushi lovers, paired with wine labels from the rich cellar. Once the sun sets, the rooftop bar fills with people enjoying signature cocktails. Old Port, Naoussa
T Aneipota
Hidden in Naoussa’s whitewashed lanes near the little bridge, T Aneipota is a characterful meze eatery that stands out on the island. Open from the morning for coffee and breakfast, it continues with meze at midday, and in the evening its convivial atmosphere is perfect for ouzo and tsipouro. The heart of the place is Nasia, who cooks and serves with her daughter Anthi, homestyle recipes inspired by Paros. Meatballs, homemade fries, salads and assorted cheeses accompany the spirits and beers, while the musical backdrop offers interesting selections every night. Naoussa, Paros
Chora Restaurant & Bar
The high-design Chora Restaurant & Bar stands out at Paros Marina with its impressive outdoor space. It is open all day with dishes based on Greek cuisine. Chef Iosif Sikianakis creates a menu that honors the vibrant flavors and rich traditions of the Mediterranean. Using fresh, local ingredients, each dish offers a modern touch to Mediterranean cuisine. In the afternoon and evening everyone heads to its bar, which serves cocktails made with care, making our nights fun. Paros Marina, Parikia
Greco
In Parikia we also find Greco, the traditional Greek taverna where locals and visitors gather every day. Its Cycladic-style tables are complemented by wonderful sea views. Here the essence of Greece is captured in every dish with traditional flavors from meats to seafood. Popular choices include pork kontosouvli, souvlaki, homestyle dishes like moussaka, dolmadakia and pastitsio, as well as seafood options such as marinated anchovies and fried calamari.
