For several years now, Bansko has established itself as one of the top ski destinations in Europe. Its well-equipped, modern ski resort , along with prices lower than other popular resorts, has placed it at the top of winter getaways for Greeks and Europeans. In recent years, together with Sofia, it has also piqued the interest of digital nomads (digital nomads), thanks to the low cost of living. Access is very easy from Greece, especially for residents of Northern Greece.
In just 1.5 hours from the Promachonas border, in 2 hours from Serres and in about 3 hours from Thessaloniki, you will have reached the charming small town in Bulgaria. The Bansko Ski Resort

What to do
While the town is built at the foot of the ski resort at around 900 meters elevation and life seems to revolve around it, there are other activities to fill your schedule. Walk the alleys with stone-built houses and dont miss a stroll alongside the Glazne River. The more you descend from the ski area, the further youll get from the resorts and guesthouses and youll encounter locals homes and the most authentic side of Bansko. Along the way youll find shops with traditional products, such as the characteristic hand-painted clay mugs and plates, as well as various metalware and souvenirs.
Large hotel complexes are constantly increasing and the town is developing residentially and touristically at a rapid pace. It is very likely that you have booked accommodation in one of the many properties with an indoor pool. You can spend a little time relaxing, swimming with views of the snow-covered mountain. In addition, in town you will see that there are several options for food, drinks and nightlife.
If cultural activities interest you, visit the House Museum Of Nikola Vaptsarov. It is the home of the Bulgarian poet Nikola Vaptsarov, one of the most popular of the 20th century. There, through preserved objects and audiovisual material, you will learn more about his life and work.
Beyond winter activities, you will find that this is a place with cultural events at different times of the year. Every November the International Mountaineering and Adventure Film Festival takes place. It is a distinctive festival that combines extreme sports with film premieres. In Bansko you have the chance to get to know Bulgarias culinary tradition through the abundance of restaurants. In the traditional taverns (механа́ as the locals call them) you will dine by the fireplace and accompany your dinner with Bulgarian music. Try meat soups and wood-fired bread (Parlenka) at Vodenitsata Traditional Restaurant, different traditional chicken recipes at Kasapinova Mehana, kebabs, traditional sausage and stuffed bohcha bread at The Log House Bansko. Nearby excursions
If you have days at your disposal or want to discover other places nearby, in half an hour you will find yourself in Pirin National Park. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, it will impress you with its rich nature, lakes and rivers.
The village of Banya about 150 kilometers from Bansko, is a destination popular for its thermal baths. If you want to enjoy a spa you are in the right place, as you will find more than 20 thermal springs. Relax and enjoy the pools with warm water at the villages hotels.
