DELPHI

In a serene natural setting, on the southern slopes of Mount Parnassos, lies Delphi, where the most important religious center of antiquity was founded and flourished.Near the archaeological site of Delphi stands the modern town of the same name, which offers well-developed tourist infrastructure and beautiful views over the wider area with its endless olive groves and across the Gulf of Itea. Of particular interest is the Museum of the Delphic Festivals, housed in the home of the poet Angelos Sikelianos and his American wife, Eva Palmer - Sikelianos. Delphi can easily serve as a starting point for excursions to Amfissa, the capital of the Regional Unit of Phocis, to Itea, a modern seaside town, and to Galaxidi, a particularly picturesque Roumeliot town with a rich maritime tradition.
