The Syvota in Thesprotia hasn't been dubbed the «Caribbean of Greece» by chance. With a signature lacework of sea and lush islets, beaches with tropical waters and dozens of coves, like fjords in the Ionian's embrace, Syvota rivals the world's top exotic destinations.
One of the region's most famous and renowned beaches is the «Pool». Its name says it all and it surely couldn't be more apt, as the turquoise, crystal-clear waters look almost unreal. The setting is completed by white sand, pebbles and dense greenery. It is undoubtedly one of the most exotic and impressive beaches in Greece.
Syvota: A dive into the Ionian's most beautiful «Pool»
The Pool beach is located in the island complex of Syvota and specifically on the uninhabited islet known as Mavronoros or Mourtos. Its waters are so turquoise and so transparent that they make you feel like you're swimming in «nature's pool». The beach is laid with coarse sand and fine pebbles, while the rocks at its back offer generous shade from midday onwards.
The beach is accessible only by sea and there are no facilities, so make sure you bring the essentials. You can reach Pool either by taking the small boats that depart at regular intervals from Syvota, or by renting your own little boat. Along the way you'll have the chance to admire the exotic waters and the cave on the back of Agios Nikolaos island.
