Just two hours by ferry from Rafina, Andros is one of the most affordable options for holidays in the Cyclades, especially outside the high season. Because of the short distance, tickets cost less than to other islands, and thanks to the islands size there are more accommodation choices to suit every budget.

Andros offers plenty of places to go out, beaches with crystal-clear waters, as well as quiet and authentic corners. Andros Chora stands out for its neoclassical mansions, narrow alleys, and views of the Aegean, while Batsi is ideal for strolls and seaside dining. The island is also famed for its hiking trails, which pass springs, stone bridges, and lush hillsides, offering a different Cycladic experience.

The town of Aegina keeps a lively character, with waterfront cafés, tavernas, and neoclassical buildings. Among the island’s most important sights are the Temple of Aphaia, one of Greece’s best-preserved ancient monuments, as well as the Monastery of Saint Nektarios. Dont forget to stop for ouzo meze and pistachio ice cream, venture into the pine-clad interior, take dips at the islet of Moni, at the beaches of Marathonas, Aeginitissa, and Agia Marina, at Klima, and enjoy strolls in Perdika and Paliachora, the island’s medieval capital.

Methana is a low-profile destination. It is a peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Peloponnese, on the shores of the Saronic Gulf, connected to the rest of the Peloponnese by a narrow isthmus 300 meters wide. Methana combines a calm atmosphere, natural beauty, and affordable prices. Access is either by car in about 2.5 hours, or by ferry from Piraeus in about 2 hours. Tickets are inexpensive and going by ferry means you dont have to bring a car.
