Barcelona
One of the most popular European cities for solo travel. And not without reason, as the capital of Catalonia is not only one of the Mediterraneans most enchanting cities, with landmarks and stunning architecture, but also a city you fall in love with for its atmosphere and energy.
Gaudí has left his indelible mark on Barcelona. One of his masterpieces and emblematic places to visit in the city is Park Güell, which is anything but an ordinary park. It blends art and organic architecture with nature and, beyond its lush greenery, offers panoramic views over the city. Its heart beats in the Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic), with cobbled lanes and medieval buildings. One of the loveliest places to admire Barcelona from above is also Montjuïc hill. Paris
Charming Paris couldnt be missing from the list for many reasons, although, due to the citys scale, it may not be the best choice if its your first solo trip. Without a doubt, though, its the place that truly lends itself to discovery. Of history, of art, of human ingenuity. Paris is home to some of the worlds most emblematic monuments, such as the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and Notre-Dame Cathedral.
Beyond, of course, the citys popular and characteristic landmarks, Paris is also ideal for carving out your own routes. Wander through dozens of neighborhoods with distinctive little shops, unusual parks, pinpoint hidden haunts, chocolateries, museums. A wonderful new world unfolds before you, as long as you keep walking it.
Florence
From dreamy yet chaotic Paris to a smaller city (though one of Italys largest), breaking the lists sequence of capitals. Florence offers a liberating solo travel experience, because beyond its touristic side, it also has its more hidden corners. Take time to observe the details of Florences architecture. Try Italys best espresso, cross the Arno River and explore the Oltrarno neighborhood, the citys authentic side. For last, we left the youthful and multicultural Amsterdam, which is no accident among the top destinations in Europe. A characteristic example, Vondelpark, the citys largest park, feels like a refuge in the city, for strolls, relaxation, play, and picnics.
Starting from Dam Square, you can walk or tour by bicycle like the locals. A famous attraction in the Jordaan area is the Anne Frank house-museum, with the hideout where she wrote her renowned diary.
