This lesser known city in northern Italy is home to the worlds best restaurant according to the World Culinary Awards.
The World Culinary Awards, the "Oscars of gastronomy", as they are known, were presented again this year, aiming to promote global culinary culture and encourage gastronomic tourism. According to these, the best restaurant in the world for 2025 is in Italy. Not in one of the famous destinations, though, but in a small town, a breath from Venice, offering an authentic Italian experience away from the tourist crowds.
What is the best restaurant in the world for 2025
The World Culinary Awards are the "sibling" institution of the World Travel Awards which since 1994 have honored excellence in tourism and travel. The most important category of the gastronomic awards is, of course, that of the "best restaurant in the world." This year, the first prize went to Le Calandre in the Italian city of Padua, one of the many restaurants created by Max Alajmo, who was once the youngest chef to win three Michelin stars.
