Forbes unveiled the 50 most beautiful villages in the world for 2025. See which Greek village made the top ten.
Imposing capitals and major cities may be famed for their sights and nightlife, but across the globe there are charming small towns and villages that win over travelers with their authentic atmosphere and enchanting landscapes.
Forbes, with the help of the Unforgettable Travel Company, compiled a list of the 50 most beautiful villages around the world - from the idyllic English countryside to the mountains of Japan. Within the top ten, and specifically in 6th place on the list, is one of the most striking and picturesque places in Greece.
Oia: One of the 10 most beautiful villages in the world
Oia in Santorini ranks 6th on the list - and its not hard to understand why. It was the first settlement to be designated preserved (1976) and one of the most photographed places in Greece, with devoted admirers from all over the world. Picturesque cobbled lanes, simple cave houses, the caldera view, and Oias world-famous sunset act like magnets for thousands of travelers. From early afternoon, visitors flood the cobbled lanes to savor the moment the sun sinks, fiery red, into the sea.
