A Greek beach ranks among the 25 best in the world on Lonely Planets new list.
The travel guide Lonely Planet has released a new list of the worlds best beaches. From Tanzania to Iceland and Brazil, the renowned guide singled out 25 of the 100 beaches featured in its book titled «100 of the most incredible beaches in the world». Among them is a... different Greek beach that is one of the most photographed landscapes of the Aegean.
Sarakiniko on Milos among the worlds best beaches
On the northern side of Milos, about 30 minutes from Adamas, there is a beach that evokes a lunar landscape. This is the famed Sarakiniko. «Centuries of erosion by waves and winds have shaped the rocky formations on the beach, creating caves to explore and alabaster rocks for jumping. Sunbathe on the rocks or use them as a point of access to slip into the water and go snorkeling», writes Lonely Planet about Sarakiniko.
As this is one of the most famous beaches in Greece, Lonely Planet advises travelers to visit Sarakiniko in September or October to avoid the crowds. «If you find yourself here during high season, visit the beach in the morning for calmer moments».
