Day trip to Pachi Megara
Pachi lies south of Megara, on the shores of the Saronic Gulf, opposite Salamina. As we read on pamemegara.gr, in antiquity Pachi was called Nisaea and was the port of Megara, while the first residents to settle in the area were a group of people from Lachi, Laconia. In Pachi the destroyer Psara was sunk in April 1941 and today visitors can see the monument to the fallen right in front of the harbor.
With traditional tavernas serving fish and seafood straight from the Saronic Gulf and a beautiful island-style setting, Pachi is perfect for a mini weekend getaway. When summer arrives, many even take a swim in the nearby coves.
It is worth climbing St. George Hill with its namesake 17th-century chapel, to enjoy a wonderful view of the sea and take your best photos from above. Opposite are two islands, the Small and Large island of Pachi.
