More and more travelers are choosing off season holidays in Greece, a trend that boosts the much-desired extension of the season and strengthens total tourism revenues for the whole of 2024. The impression that existed until now is in fact confirmed by data on flights and hotels that are gradually being released.
A first indication of strong performance beyond the peak season came from data from the largest airport in the country, according to which September, October and November showed a significant increase in passenger traffic, which in some cases was recorded as higher than the increase during the hottest months of summer.
For example, the rise in passenger traffic in October reached 10,1% versus a 9,3% increase recorded for the passenger traffic of ΔΔΑ in the second hottest month of the summer, July. Similarly, in November passenger traffic soared by 13,3%, while in August the increase was limited to 10,5%.
