The progress of the Hellenic Sailing League powered by Grivalia during its inaugural competitive season, as well as the vision for its evolution in the coming years, was presented today by representatives of the event as part of a press conference.
The Hellenic Sailing League powered by Grivalia, an initiative of the Yacht Club of Greece and Grivalia Hospitality, launched in 2026 with the aim of creating a modern interclub sailing institution in Greece and showcasing the country as a destination for international racing events.
During the event, the initiative’s key development pillars were presented, with emphasis on increasing yacht club participation, creating a stable competitive platform, and further highlighting Greece as a destination for high-level sailing events. It’s worth noting that during the first two races of the inaugural season:
- A total of more than 120 athletes competed
- 21 races were held
- 8 RS21 boats were used
- More than 300 visitors/spectators attended
- 24 hours of racing took place
The organizers emphasized that the sailing community’s response in the institution’s first months confirms the project’s momentum and lays strong foundations for its further growth.
Presenting the plan for the next five years, the organizers noted that the goal is to hold 6 races annually and a total of 250 athletes per season. They also aim to attract international crews, with the ambition of establishing Greece as a reference point for club sailing in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The event is supported by a wide network of sponsors and partners who contribute to the development and establishment of the institution, while Grivalia participates as a Founding Partner, supporting the initiative’s long-term vision. The Hellenic Sailing League powered by Grivalia is concluding its first competitive season with the 2026 final race and continues its course with the aim of creating an institution of international scope for Greek sailing.
