Drawing inspiration from the Maidens of the Cyclades, the 16th festival «Routes in Marpissa» will take place this year on August 28, 29 and 30, 2026, in the traditional settlement of Marpissa on Paros.
Following a trail of different women's imprints, the festival poses questions around the web of relationships that unfolds through memory and traditional practices. With narratives that spark contemporary reflections, the 16th «Routes in Marpissa» festival seeks to create a living dialogue, shedding light on the notion of continuity and the shifts in women's presence in the area.
Thematic stops, educational workshops for children in collaboration with the Herakleidon Museum and the Theocharakis Foundation, a drama therapy and visual expression workshop inspired by Clarissa Pinkola Estés's work «Women Who Run with the Wolves», a contemporary art exhibition curated by Despina Zevkili, a screening of the documentary «Reenactments», visits to museums and traditional village houses, digital tours, and a series of experiential activities will help us sketch the portraits of the women of the Cyclades and listen to their stories – even those that went untold.
A musical tribute to Manos Hadjidakis by the Cyclades Orchestra, a concert with Maria Papageorgiou and a traditional island revel with Nikos Oikonomidis and Kyriaki Spanou will bring the festival's three days to a musical close.
Inspired by the village, in the company of its residents and with action as our aim… come walk with us in Marpissa again this year!
