THE DOLLI at Acropolis by GRECOTEL, stands proudly among the world's top hotels, with major accolades at the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2026.
The THE DOLLI at Acropolis, the iconic hôtel-maison of the GRECOTEL Group in the heart of Athens' Historic Center, overlooking the Parthenon, was named No. 1 City Hotel in Athens at the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2026, with an overall score of 98.00/100.00, recording the highest score in Greece in a particularly competitive category.
This honorary recognition carries even greater weight, as it comes from the discerning American travel audience and elevates THE DOLLI even higher on the international hospitality map: to 5th place in Europe and among the 100 best hotels in the world.
Beyond its top position in Athens and its international ranking, this distinction shines a spotlight on the strength of a Greek brand in the global tourism industry. THE DOLLI, with GRECOTEL's signature, stands proudly among the world's leading hotels, showcasing Athens, Greek aesthetics, and authentic hospitality on a global scale.
Above all, this award honors the experience guests encounter at THE DOLLI. Just as every home has its own character and its own people, so too THE DOLLI is defined not only by its architectural value and aesthetic, but also by the people who bring it to life every day.
The splendid listed Kallimasioti Mansion of 1925, the work of the renowned architect Andreas Kriezis, who also designed the Hellenic Parliament building, has been given a new life with respect for its historic character and the quality, standards, and atmosphere of the world's leading hotels. The historic mansion reopened its doors in January 2023, after a seven-year restoration and interior redesign, a project envisioned and brought to life by the CEO of the GRECOTEL Group, Mari Daskalantonaki.
Today, Kriezis' architectural grandeur is showcased through 46 rooms, suites, apartments, and pieds-à-terre, each with its own identity, as well as through the DOLLI·S rooftop restaurant and the iconic infinity pool, which creates the feeling that you're swimming beneath the Parthenon itself.
«The recognition of THE DOLLI as No. 1 City Hotel in Athens by the readers of Travel + Leisure is an exceptionally moving honor, precisely because it comes from our guests», said Ms. Daskalantonaki. «From the very first moment, our aim was to create a Hotel to Live — a place with soul, character, and an authentic sense of hospitality that connects the visitor with Athens in a meaningful and personal way. This distinction holds special value for us, because it shows that guests recognize the love, care, and attention we've dedicated to every detail of THE DOLLI. That's why we're deeply grateful».
This new recognition comes to be added to a series of international awards for THE DOLLI, confirming its position among the world's top hotels. Among them, the Prix Versailles for Architecture and Design, in the category The Most Beautiful Hotels in the World, as the first and only building in Greece to have received this distinction; its nomination at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2026; its inclusion in the Tatler 101 Best Hotels in the World 2025 list; the Two MICHELIN Keys in the inaugural MICHELIN Key for Hotels 2025 guide; as well as its recognition as a finalist for the Virtuoso Best Brand Award. At the same time, already within its first eight months of operation, THE DOLLI had been named #1 Best Hotel in Greece by Condé Nast Traveller, confirming early on its dynamism on the international stage of high hospitality.
GRECOTEL remains an independent, family-owned company now welcoming its third generation, continuing to evolve and strengthen its footprint in Greek and international tourism. Guided by the motto Hotels and Resorts to Live, the Group creates emblematic hotels, innovative products, and authentic hospitality experiences that showcase Greece in every facet. Keeping the compass steadily forward, GRECOTEL moves dynamically into a new era, investing in quality, high aesthetics, innovation, and, above all, in people.
