A grand musical evening with Lina Nikolakopoulou, Thodoris Voutsikakis and the participation of Alkmini, dedicated to the sea, to culture and to the collective strength of a community that stands up for its home.
The «Thalassa Mana» returns to Poros. On Monday, June 22, at 20:00, in Karamanou Square, Lina Nikolakopoulou and Thodoris Voutsikakis, with the participation of Alkmini, invite residents and visitors to a special concert dedicated to the sea, the power of art, and collective awareness for the protection of the marine environment.
«Thalassa Mana ΙΙ», organized by the Municipality of Poros, Katheti and AKTAIA, comes as the continuation of an initiative that went beyond the bounds of a cultural event. The first «Thalassa Mana» concert brought together in Poros people of the arts, residents, visitors, and active citizens, sending a strong message for the protection of Greece's seas and the island's natural identity.
One year after the great mobilization of the local community and following a long, coordinated effort by the municipal authorities, institutions, associations, and citizens, this year's concert takes place at a moment of special significance for Poros. The negative opinion of ΚΕΣΥΠΟΘΑ against the creation of an Organized Aquaculture Development Area on the island was an important vindication for those who worked for years with seriousness, documentation, and persistence to protect the island.
However, the message of the evening isn't only celebratory. It's also a message of vigilance. The effort to protect Poros and, more broadly, the areas of the Saronic and Argolic Gulfs from the unregulated and excessive industrial expansion of fish farming continues. Until it's clearly and permanently ensured that Poros, Aegina, Agistri, Epidaurus, Corinth, North and South Kynouria, Nafplio, Salamina, Spetses, Troizina – Methana and Hydra won't be turned into industrial fish production zones, the collective effort remains necessary.
«Thalassa Mana ΙΙ» highlights precisely this connection: culture as a way of memory, gratitude, and continuity. The sea isn't only a natural environment. It's a way of life, a source of inspiration, a part of the local identity, the history, and the everyday life of the people of Poros. It's the landscape that gave birth to songs, images, memories, and bonds. And at the same time, it's a shared place of responsibility.
Through the words, the melodies, and the stage presence of Lina Nikolakopoulou, Thodoris Voutsikakis, and Alkmini, the evening aspires to bring the community together once more around a simple and essential message: whatever we love, we protect. And whatever we protect, we pass on alive to the next generations.
The Municipality of Poros, Katheti and AKTAIA invite residents and visitors to take part in a concert that honors the sea, thanks those who stood by the common struggle, and reminds us that protecting the natural environment isn't the business of a few, but the responsibility of all.
The «Thalassa Mana ΙΙ» concert will take place on Monday, June 22, at 20:00, in Karamanou Square in Poros.
