On Sunday 07 June 2026, Vamvakou in Laconia once again becomes a starting point, a meeting place and a celebration of trail running.
How well do you know the trails of Mount Parnon in Laconia? How many times have you run at altitude, among firs and pines, with nature setting the pace and your gaze lost among the peaks? The Vamvakou Mountain Run returns for the 6th year and once again brings together runners from all over Greece in one of the most authentic mountain landscapes of the Peloponnese.
On Sunday 07 June 2026, the beautiful village of Vamvakou, Laconia once again transforms into a starting point, a meeting place and a celebration of mountain running. The much-loved race returns with vigor, blending physical challenge, shifting landscapes and the unique hospitality of a small village being reborn.
The event is organized by the non-profit organization Vamvakou Revival, as part of the broader Vamvakou Revival initiative, and is implemented with the support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF), with the aim of highlighting the areas natural wealth and encouraging participation in activities in nature. Organizational oversight of the race has been undertaken by Ioannis Dimopoulos, runner and coach.
The 6th Vamvakou Mountain Run includes three routes of different distances (29, 19 and 7 kilometers), designed to meet the needs of both experienced athletes and amateur runners who want to enjoy a complete mountain experience. The routes wind through gorges, forest roads and waymarked trails, starting from the village square (950 m elevation) and reaching higher elevations (1900 m), touching the heart of Mount Parnon.
The race comes with official electronic timing, commemorative participation medals, awards and unique prize draws, while every year it attracts hundreds of runners and visitors who fill Vamvakou with life, energy and smiles.
Building on five successful previous editions and the dynamic community of runners that supports it, the Vamvakou Mountain Run continues to be a standout mountain race and an experience that transcends sport.
