The stadium hosted the 1992 Olympic Games and today has returned dynamically to the spotlight, as it serves as Barcelonas temporary home during the renovation of Camp Nou. It was named after the former president of Catalonia, Lluís Companys i Jover, was originally built in 1927 for the 1929 International Exposition, and is part of Barcelonas history and identity. How to get to the «Montjuïc» stadium
By Metro
The simplest and most budget-friendly way to reach the stadium is Barcelonas metro. With lines L1 (Red) and L3 (Green), get off at Espanya and from there walk up from the famous fountain toward Montjuïc hill. The walk takes about 20 minutes, but you can use the escalators and elevators that lead to the top. If you dont want to walk at all, once you arrive by metro you can take buses 150, 55, or 23 to reach the stadium.
By bus
If you dont want to walk, the citys bus network offers very good access to the stadium and runs until late at night. Bus 150 starts from Plaça Espanya and climbs up to Castell de Montjuïc, stopping at the Olympic Stadium. You can also take bus 55, which connects the city center and more specifically Plaça de Catalunya with the Montjuïc area, get off at Av de lEstadi - Pg Olímpic and walk three minutes.
By cable car
For a more spectacular experience, you can choose the cable car (Funicular de Montjuïc and Telefèric de Montjuïc). From the Paral·lel station on metro lines 2 and 3 you can take the funicular (Funicular de Montjuïc) with the same ticket and ride up the hill. From there you can go even higher with the Telefèric de Montjuïc.
By taxi or car
If you prefer comfort, you can go to the stadium by taxi or car. The ride from central Barcelona to the stadium takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. There are parking areas near the stadium, but on match days traffic is heavier, so its best to arrive early or choose public transportation.
