The Celje - AEK match is hosted at Stadion Z’dežele in Celje in Slovenia today (02/10). Nestled beneath Golovec Hill, the Celje stadium is one of the most modern football and sports facilities in Slovenia. Once known as Arena Petrol the stadium took its current name in 2005 from sponsor Z’dežele. The start of the stadiums construction at the formerly abandoned Opekarniška cave dates back to 1999.
Home of NK Celje since 2003, it took its final form in February 2008, when the last stand was built and it is part of a large sports park. The stadium capacity is 13.059 seats and the grass surface is constructed according to the most modern standards, similar to that of the football pitch at the Olympic Stadium in Munich. The stadium is close to the center of the city of Celje and is easy to reach.
How to get to Celje Stadium
By bus
Walk about 10 minutes from the Old Town to the Celje AP bus stop and take the bus for three stops to Celje Sp.Hudinja. From there you will walk another 10 minutes to reach the stadium. The buses that will take you there are: PR A18 0684 1 (61611), PR A18 0207 8 (61534), PR A18 0649 1 (61296) and PR A18 0682 4 (62010).
By car
The stadium is located in the Celje Sports Park, next to Zlatorog Hall and the Mercator Center, in the Hudinja settlement. If you arrive in Celje by car via the highway, the shortest road to the stadium is to exit the highway at the first traffic light left, along Mariborska cesta straight to the junction with Podjavorškova cesta (on the right is the Selmar car showroom, on the left is the A2S car showroom), where you turn right and drive straight to the 1st roundabout (in about 200 meters), where you take the second exit and at the next roundabout (in about 50 meters) you take the third exit. Drive to the parking lot and you arrive at the Sports Park area.
On foot
If you are in the mood for a walk, the stadium is about 35- 40 minutes on foot from the Old Town of Celje.
