The... other Lake Vouliagmeni lies in Corinthia, just a few kilometers from Loutraki. It is a natural lagoon with a sandy beach and gorgeous waters.
When we hear Lake Vouliagmeni our mind usually goes to the one in Vouliagmeni in Attica. However, there is another beautiful lake with the same name, located inCorinthia. We are talking about Lake Vouliagmeni, or Heraion, 15 km from Loutraki.
It is essentially a lagoon with salt water that is renewed through a narrow channel at its edge that connects it to the Gulf of Corinth. Its depth does not exceed 40 meters, its length 2 kilometers and its width one kilometer.
Only an hour and a half away from Athens, Vouliagmeni in Loutraki is an ideal choice for a day trip on weekends. Its azure and calm waters, which are renewed by the phenomenon of high and low tide approximately every six hours, are considered particularly warm and are perfect for swimming until late autumn.
Here you will find a lovely beach, located on the western shores and carpeted with fine white sand. At the lake there are also tavernas that serve fish and meat dishes. Visitors can visit the picturesque chapel of Saint Nicholas, enjoy water sports and cycle along the lakeside road.
