Northern Evia is a destination that blends mountain and sea to perfection. Among the lush green landscapes and the small seaside villages overlooking the Aegean or the Euboean Gulf, lie hidden beaches worth discovering. Some are long, organized, and ideal for a full-day outing, while others remain quieter and are perfect for swims away from the crowds.
Northern Evia's greatest advantage is its striking natural scenery and the wealth of different options. Its beaches each have their own character, so it's worth taking the time to get to know as many as you can.
Agia Anna
Agia Anna's beach, also known as Agkali, is one of the most popular in all of Evia. It's extensive and has several organized spots near the settlement, as well as other, quieter stretches. It combines sand and pebbles, and the setting is impressive thanks to the lush green hills surrounding it. In the area you'll find accommodation, cafes, tavernas, and beach bars.
Pefki
Pefki is one of Northern Evia's best-known summer holiday destinations. Its beach is an ideal choice for those who want all amenities gathered in one place. The approximately 4-5 km coastline has sections with sand and pebbles. In many spots there are umbrellas, sun loungers, and options for coffee or food. The beach is especially popular with families and groups of friends, as it offers plenty of choices for everyone.
Edipsos
Known chiefly for its thermal springs, Edipsos makes a very good base for exploring Northern Evia's villages and beaches. Edipsos feels as if it's been left untouched by time and gives you the chance to combine your stay with swimming and strolls for food and coffee. Here, the mountain meets the Euboean Gulf and the natural hot springs are an integral part of the landscape. Beautiful beaches like Ilia are a short distance away.
Ellinika
The Ellinika beach is one of Northern Evia's most picturesque. The sandy shore and clear waters create a lovely scene, but what stands out is the view towards the tiny islet opposite, with its quaint little chapel. The beach lies near Agios Nikolaos and is ideal for those who want a quieter swim, away from the bigger resort hubs.
Vasilika
On Northern Evia's eastern side, Vasilika makes a strong impression. The beach stretches below the settlement and offers plenty of places to swim, from more organized sections to smaller coves. Continuing on at Psaropouli, you'll find tavernas and ouzeris for fish meze after your swim, while the area is a good base for those who want to explore the northern coastline.
Rovies
On Northern Evia's western side, Rovies is one of the island's most popular destinations. The beach lies in front of the settlement and offers lovely views of the Euboean Gulf, while the atmosphere is relaxed and authentic. After your swim, you can sit at one of the seafront tavernas or cafes. It's a spot families favor.
Nisiotissa
Nisiotissa is one of those postcard-perfect beaches. It's close to the village of Oreoi and stands out for its crystal-clear waters and sandy shore. It looks across to the small islet opposite, where ruins of an ancient tower remain. The exotic scene is completed by the palm trees at the edge of the beach.
Golden Beach and Gregolimano
At Evia's northwestern tip, Golden Beach impresses with its clear, shallow waters. Next to it lies Gregolimano, which is accessed from Golden Beach and looks like an island. It has tamarisk trees that provide natural shade.
Achladi
Achladi is a small seaside destination in eastern Evia with a tranquil character. It's a short distance from Agia Anna and has a long shore facing the Aegean. It has sand and pebbles, deep, clear waters, and little tavernas all around for peaceful moments after your swim.
Kavos
For those who prefer quieter, more natural beaches, Kavos in Lichada is an excellent choice. It's at Evia's northwestern tip and is defined by a wilder landscape. The waters are enchanting, tamarisk trees grow all around, and one part of the beach is organized with sun loungers. You'll notice many people like to take their dips at the point where a natural «spit» forms. From Lichada you can also take the boat to the Lichadonisia.
Lichadonisia
One of the most impressive places you'll encounter across all of Evia is Lichadonisia, a small cluster of islets in the northern Euboean Gulf. The little islands opposite Lichada are often called the «Seychelles of Evia». Turquoise, shallow waters, pale sand, and lush greenery create a scene that feels like an exotic island. Access is by boats from Lichada, Agios Georgios, or other nearby points in the area, and the excursion to the islets is one of the most special experiences you can have in Northern Evia. If you're lucky, you might even meet Monachus monachus seals in their crystal-clear waters.
