The travel guide Lonely Planet has created its own list of European places that are ideal for spring getaways in 2026. The list features 13 destinations in total for every taste (from exotic islands to picturesque towns and lakes), organized by month and taking into account weather conditions across the continent. Among the top picks for March is a Greek destination that blends culture, nature, the sea and great food.

The Peloponnese among the top spring destinations for 2026

Lonely Planet singles out the Peloponnese as one of Europes best spring destinations, noting that it boasts some of Greeces top beaches, the best-preserved ancient monuments, charming mountains, wonderful food and outstanding local products. According to the guide, March is the ideal month to enjoy a getaway in the Peloponnese without tourist crowds and to find more and more affordable accommodation options.

Lonely Planet invites its readers to explore history with a visit to Ancient Olympia, Mycenae, Epidaurus and Monemvasia. It also notes that the Mani peninsula is ideal for rewarding hikes and stops in charming villages, while the west coast of the Peloponnese has some of the best sandy beaches in Greece.
