Bloomberg: Where to travel in Greece in 2026

Bloomberg recommends Greece as one of the places worth traveling to in 2026, but the destinations arent the ones most people imagine.

Bloomberg published its 10th annual travel guide for 2026 and Greece could not be left off the list. Among destinations that are classic, luxurious, and closer to nature, the recommendations for Greece differ from the usual. «We recommend the Greek mountains (trust us) instead of the Greek islands», the report states.

Santorini and Mykonos are left in 2025, as the next travel hotspot doesnt need to be expensive, nor do summer holidays have to include crowding at beach bars and packed ferries. In 2026, the Greek mountains steal the show with stone-built houses, traditional farmsteads, and centuries-old monasteries carved into the rocks.

The trend of the new year is the Greek mountains, far from the overtourism of the Cyclades. Northern Greece and the Peloponnese in some cases offer more gastronomic delights and luxurious amenities than the Ionian and the Cyclades. In places like the Great Forest of Metsovo in the Northern Pindus you can swim in a hilltop pool, then cycle beside dense fir trees and taste cabernet sauvignon from high-altitude vineyards.

Greeces mountain destinations have begun to grow popular in summer as well for those who cant stand excessive heat, and for the first time in more than a decade hotel bookings have risen from Greeks and Americans. The report emphasizes that summer is the ideal season for the mountains, as they are a cool oasis away from Athens heat. While these destinations are swamped in winter, in the summer months they offer tranquility.

Many new resorts can meet the high demand, with Manna among them. The five-star resort has 23 rooms within Arcadias fir forest and is just 2,5 hours away from Athens. In fact, a 74-kilometer network of hiking trails connects it with a series of charming villages.

«Whether you choose Manna or Euphoria Retreat, or the luxurious farms at Opora Country Living - you will likely stay away from the crowds and under a price of 450 euros a night», the Bloomberg report notes. The report also mentions that spring offers the most pleasant temperatures for hiking and the blooming wildflowers will be at their peak in late April.
