Drepano
A short distance from Patras, Drepano Beach stretches beside the mouth of the Volineios River. It is known mainly to windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts, as the wind and the terrain create ideal conditions for watersports. On the beach there is a beach bar, a surf school and water slides. At the edge of Drepano, on the cape, the namesake lighthouse stands, stone-built, creating a postcard-perfect scene.
Diakopto
In the shadow of Kalavryta, just 160 km. from Athens, Diakopto or Diakofto is a destination that combines the beauties of the mountain with the sea. It is one of the most popular beaches in Achaia, with pebbles and blue waters, as the area offers many options for accommodation and food. Diakopto is an ideal starting point to explore Kalavryta in a single day, as the Odontotos railway starts here, the little train with the stunning route through the Vouraikos Gorge that ends at the well-known mountain destination.
Avythos - Akoli
In an idyllic setting next to Aigio, Avythos Beach is known to locals as Akoli. The name Avythos seems to derive from the fact that the beach has very deep waters, as it is said to be among the deepest in Greece. The sandy shore mixes with small pebbles and the trees reach right to the waves. Behind the beach lies the settlement, with accommodation, little tavernas, cafés and bars.
Kalogria
Among the most famous in Achaia, the beach of Kalogria pairs crystal-clear waters with an impressive lush green landscape. About 40 km. from Patras, Kalogria is one of the area’s most popular beaches for both locals and visitors. With a vast sandy shore with dunes and sand hills, it has the Strofylia Forest as its backdrop. In essence, it forms part of the national park of the Kotichi lagoon wetlands and the Strofylia Forest, which is the largest stone pine forest in Greece and one of the largest in Europe.
Gianiskari
One of the most impressive yet hard-to-reach beaches of Achaia, Gianiskari lies next to Kalogria. Via a narrow dirt road you will be led to a sandy beach with turquoise shallow waters and a stunning sunset. Beneath the green hills and rocks, you will find a snack bar with sunbeds, and there is also an unorganized section where you can sit with your own umbrella.
Lakkopetra
In the Gulf of Patras, Lakkopetra is known for its shallow waters and easy access. The area lends itself to holidays, as it has accommodation and tavernas and is preferred mainly by families. The beach has stretches of sand and pebbles and along it you will find sunbeds and beach bars, while there are also trees to relax under natural shade.
