Travel & Leisure singles out Sifnos as the best family destination in Greece for 2025. «Sifnos is a wonderful place with a relaxing atmosphere and beautiful beaches, making it an excellent choice for families», notes the international travel publication in a recent article on the 15 top places in Greece for holidays.
Also, as reported by ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ, the German travel website Reisereporter.de includes Sifnos among the 24 Greek islands that, from the Ionian to the Argosaronic, the Cyclades, the Sporades and the Dodecanese, remain «faithful» to authenticity and resist mass tourism. According to the site, «Sifnos is a paradise for hiking and gastronomy. The residents of the sun drenched Cycladic island carefully preserve their culinary heritage, a fact that attracts visitors from all over the world».
Equally positive is the mention by the French travel website Geo.fr, which recommends the beaches of Sifnos for this summer. «Although this picturesque little island is world renowned for its local cuisine and its historic monasteries, its coastline will captivate every visitor with crystal clear waters and unique landscapes», the feature notes.
The positive response from the international press is part of the effort of the Municipality of Sifnos to showcase the natural beauty of the island, its history, traditions, activities, gastronomy and new events.
«Our goal is for the traveler to get to know Sifnos through the eyes of a local and to experience our island not only in July and August, but also in the period before and after the high season, when the destination offers unique and authentic experiences», said the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of the Municipality of Sifnos, Γιάννης Ραφελέτος.
As part of the strategy of the Municipality for the development of new thematic actions, «SiFNaThLon powered by hoper 2025», a new athletic event held for the first time this year, drew strong interest from sports tourism enthusiasts, co-organized by the Municipality of Sifnos, the Association of Participants in the Olympic Games (ΕΣΟΑ) and the Pansifnaikos Athletic Club, under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and the Greek National Tourism Organization (ΕΟΤ) and with the valuable support of the South Aegean Region.
The competition program began on Saturday 14 June at Platis Gialos beach with 1.5 km swimming races and 200 m for children, as well as a 1 km kids run. The event concluded on Sunday 15 June in Apollonia, with 5 and 10 km road races that offered participants the chance to run a beautiful route, passing through the traditional settlements of Artemonas, Agia Anna, Platy Pigadi, Kato Petali, Katavati and Fyrogia and to enjoy unique vistas of the island.
