In this corner of the Ionian Sea you will dive into incredible waters.
Exotic beaches with turquoise waters, impressive sea caves and villages with traditional Heptanesian architecture welcome visitors to Paxoi, the «Benjamin of the Ionian Islands». Of course, if you travel to Paxoi its worth visiting Antipaxoi as well, the neighboring islet with heavenly shores.
With their lush nature and magical beaches, Paxoi and Antipaxoi make a unique destination for summer relaxation in the Ionian. Below we have handpicked some of the best beaches so you can choose your favorite.
Beaches on Paxoi
Erimitis
The most impressive and wild beach on Paxoi lies on the islands western side. Erimitis Beach was formedin 2008, after a major landslide. It has fantastic waters, white pebbles and imposing cliffs. You can reach it either by your own boat or on foot (near the settlement of Magazia you will see signs for the beach). There are no facilities at all, so its best to bring the necessary gear. The walk to the beach is quite long (wear athletic shoes), but the landscape, the views and the wonderful waters will reward you. Sunset here is a unique experience.
Kipiadi
A beautiful pebbly beach with blue-green waters set in a lush landscape. It is located near Loggos, on the islands eastern side, 7 km from Gaios. There are no umbrellas and sunbeds, nor natural shade, so be sure to bring the essentials. Access to the beach is easy. After leaving your car on the main road, you will walk for about five minutes along a small path through the vegetation.
Orkos
If you like the combination of white stone, turquoise waters and abundant greenery, then Orkos in the northeast, near Lakka,is one of the first beaches you should visit on Paxoi. Here, olive and cypress trees reach all the way to the sea. A wooden sign marks the start of the path that leads to the beach.
Galazio
One of the most secluded and impressive beaches on Paxoi, on their eastern side, accessible only by boat. With crystal-blue waters, coarse sand and imposing cliffs behind it.
Beaches on Antipaxoi
Voutoumi
Voutoumi on Antipaxoi often features in lists by leading international travel magazines with the top beaches in all of Europe - and not without reason. The crystal-clear waters (so clear that the boats seem to hover above the seabed), the white sand combined with pebbles and the dense vegetation that descends towards the sea create an utterly exotic setting. You will arrive by boat from Paxoi. The beach has sunbeds and a taverna.
Vrika
Equally enchanting is Vrika Beach. Hidden at the back of a cove, this beach is surrounded by lush vegetation and has white sand and turquoise, crystal-clear waters ideal for snorkeling. On the beach there are sunbeds, umbrellas, a beach bar and a taverna. Access is by boat from Gaios. Between Vrika and Voutoumi there is one more beach, Mesovrika.
