Agistri: The ideal excursion for your first dips

Pines, crystal clear waters and complete relaxation, just one hour from Athens. Agistri has its own charm.

TheAgistri, the smallest island in the Argosaronic Gulf,is ideal for day trips as well as short getawaysthis season. Though so close to Athens (just one hour from the port of Piraeus), this pine-clad little island will transport you far away with its beauty.

The lush green landscape and the beaches with crystal-clear waters make it the perfect next-door island for those who want to escape the everyday and enjoy the serenity and simplicity of nature.

Agistri has two natural harbors: theSkala, where the ferry boats from Piraeus arrive, and Megalochori, where the Flying Dolphins dock. Both ports are connected with the nearbyAegina.

In Skala you will find an organized sandy beach and plenty of options for accommodation, food and drink. In Megalochori, which is also the largest settlement on the island, you will walk along cobbled lanes, gaze at traditional houses with flower-filled courtyards and see the islands only windmill. The other two settlements on the island are Metochi and Limenaria. If your time permits, its worth visiting them. The entire island is ideal for lovers of hiking and cycling.

Skala is a large beach with golden sand and shallow, crystal-clear waters, just 100 m. from the port and ideal for families. To its left, following the coastal road, you reach the rocky beach of Skliri, with the lush pine forest behind it.

Another beach worth seeing is the pebbly Dragonera on the islands western side. To the north there are the secluded, pebbly beaches of Magiza and Bariama. Finally, dont miss visiting exotic Aponisos. It is a beautiful little islet connected to the rest of the island by a narrow strip of land.
