From the enchanting Chora and the Cave of the Apocalypse to the gorgeous beaches, Patmos has many «treasures» to discover. Here we present some of the island's most beautiful beaches. Some organized and others quieter, all with wonderful crystal-clear waters for you to enjoy your swims.
Psili Ammos
Psili Ammos is a beach... revelation. Access to this wonderful beach is easy only by boat from Skala, while if you want to go by land, you'll need to walk about half an hour from where you can leave your vehicle at Diakofti. However, at the end of the route, the beach will reward you. It has fine golden sand, shady tamarisks, and blue-green waters that lend it an exotic beauty. In fact, according to the American travel magazine Travel+Leisure, Psili Ammos is one of the best «secret beaches» in Europe.
Grikos
About 5 km from Skala, the bay of Grikos has a lovely beach with fine pebbles and sand, which looks like a lake, as it's framed by two small peninsulas and protected from the open sea by the islet of Tragonisi. At the southern extension of Grikos Bay lies Petra beach, with sunbeds, umbrellas, and a canteen. An impressive feature of the landscape is the view towards the «rock of Kalikatsou», a large rock connected to the mainland by a narrow strip. Lambi
Lambi beach is on the island's northeast and is famous for its gleaming multicolored pebbles (the name comes from the sun's shimmer on the pebbles and the sea). The beach is quite large and provides umbrellas and sunbeds, a beach bar, and a traditional taverna.
Agrio Livadi
Agrio Livadi (or Agriolivado) is a sandy beach organized in part, with tamarisks, tavernas, a beach bar, and water sports. It lies 4 km northeast of Skala, on the road to Kampos, and is famed for its clear - relatively shallow - waters.
Kampos
In the island's northeast, Kampos beach is Patmos's most organized and busiest. With sand but also small pebbles along its length, it has clear turquoise and shallow waters and offers facilities for water sports. In the surrounding area there are tavernas, cafes, and bars.
Vagia
The pebbled Vagia, in the island's northeast, just past Kampos and 7 km from Skala, is one of the quietest beaches on the island. It has a few trees along the shore that provide shade and crystal-clear azure waters. At the head of the cove there's a cafe.
